Singh as the chair holder of the Richard S. Wayne, M.D. Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology. The Richard S. Wayne, M.D. Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology was awarded to Dr. Harinder R. Singh, so that he can further advance education and research in the field of pediatric cardiology.

The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Announces Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

Appointment given to Dr. Daniel Nento SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 12, 2020) – The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio celebrate the appointment of Dr. Daniel Nento as the chair holder of the Rowena C. Gorman Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. The Rowena C. Gorman Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery was awarded to Dr. Daniel Nento, so that he can further advance education and research in the field of pediatric cardiac surgery. Dr. Nento currently serves at the section chief of pediatric cardiac surgery and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) surgical director at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, as well as associate professor, Baylor College of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the School of Medicine at Cuyo National University, Mendoza, Argentina. He completed his residency at Children’s Hospital Ricardo Gutierrez, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Nento also completed fellowships at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio and Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Nento has received numerous awards, including Best Research Paper from Cleveland Clinic, Illustrious Citizen from Mendoza, Argentina, and Best Doctor at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. In July 2009, the Rowena C. Gorman Chair in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery was established by Jim Gorman to honor his wife. Mrs. Gorman has dedicated herself to giving back to her community and has served on more than a dozen non-profit boards. She has served on The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation’s Honorary Board of Directors since 2009, in recognition of her life-long service as a Children’s Hospital volunteer. Endowed chairs recognize and foster excellence among medical professionals who are leaders in their field. Clinical, research, and educational opportunities for the recipient and the department they represent are supported through the earnings of a permanent fund.
