Walmart and Sam’s Club help change kids’ health at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio

Fundraising campaign runs June 28 – July 25

SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 25, 2021) – Walmart and Sam’s Club in the San Antonio, Victoria, and Laredo markets are once again helping raise funds for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, a member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals). Since 1987, this campaign has raised more than $1 billion for CMN Hospitals across North America, with $8 million raised for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

On June 28, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates will kick off their fundraising campaign, now in its 34th year; giving customers and members many options to donate at the register or online.

“Sam Walton once told our founders that his associates would amaze us; they certainly have, and continue to do so,” said Teri Nestel, President and CEO, CMN Hospitals. “The passion these associates have to positively impact kids’ health in their communities is almost unmatched, and we are grateful for their support.”

Children’s health is an urgent local and global issue impacting the future of our communities and society at large. There is a substantial gap between health care funding and the needs of children’s hospitals across the U.S., which is why hospitals must rely on donations and community support.

“The funds collected at Walmart and Sam’s Clubs stores help fund medical care, research, and education at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio,” said Terry Kyle, CEO of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “With the help of our generous community, we are improving lives of children treated at our hospital, regardless of their parents’ ability to pay.”

For many Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, the fundraising they do for CMN Hospitals is personal and strive to make a difference for the children within their community. For Jenny Gonzales from Sam’s Club #8262 in San Antonio, she participates because her daughter receives care at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and she sees firsthand how the Hospital is helping children and families. Her two-year-old daughter, Camilla, was born with Trisomy 21 – Downs Syndrome and has issues with her heart, and they see several specialists at The Children’s Hospital.

There are many ways to donate to your local CMH Hospital through the Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign. Customers and members can donate at the register any dollar amount, or simply round-up their purchase to the next dollar and donate the change in-store or while shopping online. Customers and members can help spread the word about the campaign via social media using the hashtag #HelpKidsLiveBetter. You can also donate at HelpKidsLiveHealthy.org.
