Local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores to raise money for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX  (June 19, 2020) – Local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores are joining forces to raise critically need funds for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio through the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) campaign.

The 2019 campaign raised more than $319,085 for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. This year’s register campaign runs from June 22 through July 19. Customers and members can conveniently donate $1 or more, or round-up their total to the next dollar during check-out at any San Antonio, Victoria, or Laredo Walmart or Sam’s Club stores.

“The funds collected at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores help support medical care, research, equipment, and education at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio,” said John E. Bel, president of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “With the help of our generous community, we are improving lives of children treated at our hospital, regardless of their parents’ ability to pay.”

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers, and members have raised more than $7,609,000 for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio since 1987. On a national level, Walmart and Sam’s Club have raised more than one billion dollars for CMN Hospitals; the largest cash amount ever raised by one company for a non-profit in North America.

Funds raised at local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores across the San Antonio area stay in our community to directly benefit sick and injured kids treated at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

Walmart and Sam’s Club joined the CMN Hospitals fundraising family in 1987 with Sam Walton himself being personally involved in the beginning of the relationship between the organizations. The fundraising campaigns support Walmart’s goal of giving back to local communities.

“Giving is not just about making a donation; it’s about making a difference. That is our goal,” said Jessica Villanueva, Regional General Manager, Region 8, Central Division, Walmart.

Customers and members can help spread the word about the campaign via social media using the hashtag #HelpKidsLiveBetter.
