Fundraising campaign runs June 13 – July 10
San Antonio, Texas (June 10, 2022) – For 35 years, Walmart and Sam’s Club have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) to change kids’ health to change the future. Associates in stores and clubs across the country have rallied behind the CMN Hospitals campaign year in and year out, raising more than $1 billion over the lifetime of the partnership for children’s hospitals across North America. Locally, $8,467,938 has benefited The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.
On June 13, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates will kick off this year’s fundraising campaign benefiting The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, your local CMN Hospitals member, giving customers and members alike many options to donate at the register or online.
“A 35-year partnership is quite rare and special,” said Teri Nestel, President and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “We’re thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone with Walmart and Sam’s Club, and even more importantly the shared values that bring us together and engage communities to transform children’s health care and ensure healthy tomorrows.”
Changing kids’ health through children’s hospitals isn’t just about treating illness and trauma – it’s about making the child and their family have everything they need to feel stable, comfortable, and prepared for what comes next.
“The funds collected at Walmart and Sam’s Club help fund medical care, research, and education at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio,” said Terry Kyle, CEO of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “With the help of our generous community, we are improving lives of children treated at our hospital, regardless of their parents’ ability to pay.”
For many Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, the fundraising they do for CMN Hospitals is personal and they strive to make a difference for the children within their community. For Jenny Gonzales from Sam’s Club #8262 in San Antonio, she participates because her daughter receives care at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and she sees firsthand how the Hospital is helping children and families. Her two-year old daughter, Camilla, was born with trisomy 21 – Down syndrome. She has issues with her heart, and sees several specialists at The Children’s Hospital.
There are many ways to donate to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, your local member of CMN Hospitals, through the Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign. Customers and members can donate any dollar amount at the register, or simply round-up their purchase to the next dollar and donate the change in-store or while shopping online. The fundraising campaign starts June 13 and runs through July 10.
