Rosita

I am a San Antonio painter, muralist and sculptor who was born and raised on the southern border. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting and a minor in art history from UTSA. My practice blends elements from the border with motifs from American popular culture and art history.

My cow, Rosita, is decorated with “embroidered” flowers with eyes at the center. The flowers mimic traditional Mexican embroidered blouses and dresses that are worn by San Antonio locals during Fiesta. The carnivalesque atmosphere in my paintings is surreal with a sense of humor, underscored by my layering of textures and a wide palette of colors.
