“Putting Children First” Campaign Celebrated with Illumination Ceremony
The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation announced the public phase of the Putting Children First campaign to raise $80 million by December 2016. Thanks to substantial leadership gifts and the enthusiastic commitment from various community and business leaders, we have already secured $73,100,000.
“We are grateful to all the community partners who have shown their support by investing in this world-class free-standing Children’s Hospital. Generous gifts have covered renovation, construction, equipment, and helped us attract some of the finest pediatric subspecialists in the country,” said Elias Neujahr, President of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.
To celebrate the early success of the campaign, an Illumination ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 3rd at Milam Park. With all eyes on The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and glowing orbs in hand, hundreds of guests gazed upon the illumination of the exterior lights of the Hospital. One thousand multi-colored glass panels were lit, creating a warm glow around the mosaic mural “The Spirit of Healing,” created by local artist Jesse Treviño. The crowd couldn’t help but smile as patients waved glowing wands from their hospital room windows.
Current Campaign Cabinet Chair Suzanne Mead Feldmann, Chief Executive Officer, Goldsbury Foundation said, “We are excited about the future of The Children’s Hospital and believe the San Antonio community stands with us, as seen by this tremendous philanthropic support.”
