Gaming for a Cause – Extra Life

RackerGamers, their friends and family members joined together to participate in Extra Life, a 24-hour charity gaming marathon.

Nationwide, the Extra Life gaming charity raised $3.4 million to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Locally, gamers raised more than $25,000 to support the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Wow!

Gaming for a Cause – Extra LifeEvery year a group of Rackers, their friends and family join together to participate in Extra Life, a 24-hour game-marathon. Games include everything from PC games, to board games to arcade games and more.

Jeromy “Doc” Adams, founder of Extra Life, and his team were in San Antonio and webcasting live throughout the marathon with updates from Rackspace (not an official sponsor of the event). Adams shared, “the biggest reason to be in San Antonio with the Rackers is because they raise so much money, plus we want to be where the energy is and it is here.”

Gaming for a Cause – Extra LifeIn addition to the Rackers, gamers had the option to play from the Microsoft store at La Cantera or from their home. It is not too late to help support the cause. Donations will continue to be accepted at www.extra-life.org through December 31, 2013.
