Extra Life Game Day – Big Win for Kids
With headsets on, dice in hand, and batteries fully charged, gamers across the nation played table top and video games for 24 hours straight for a good cause on November 7th. More than 1,100 gamers in the San Antonio area registered to participate in this year’s Extra Life National Game Day, the largest charitable effort in the gaming world, which raises funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
With the help of the Extra Life San Antonio Guild, RackerGamers, and other sponsors, this event has grown exponentially over the past few years in San Antonio. So far, local Extra Life gamers have raised $47,000 and are half way to their goal of $90,000! All funds raised locally will benefit The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, the only CMN Hospital in our region.
RackerGamers hosted a live Extra Life broadcast on Twitch, the live-streaming video platform for gamers. They gave live updates on the day’s events and shared some heartwarming stories of the children we serve.
Thank you to everyone who played games to help heal kids this weekend! The big game day may be over, but there’s still time to donate! You can participate as a fundraiser or simply make a donation to the Extra Life movement by going to www.extra-life.org. Extra Life will be raising funds through the end of the year.
